Summary: Singer CG754 serger 2008-11-15
Comment: I have this serger, I bought it at JoAnns in Yuma AZ. It is a royal pain to thread and it seems like I constantly have to adjust the tensions on it. I have a Brother serger and I have it threaded (manually) and operating in seconds. It is so difficult to thread this Singer it takes me and my husband close to an hour before it is operating correctly. AND don't buy it at JoAnns, they don't help you with it.

Summary: Don't buy it. 2008-08-07
Comment: ONE STAR. (Amazon won't let me pick one star for some reason.) HECK. ZERO STARS!!!
This is a piece of junk. I had to get 3 different machines just to get one that worked. When I finally got one, it only worked for a few months before it broke. I got it repaired. It worked for another few months before a random metal piece fell off, broken, while I was sewing.
I feel violently angry towards this machine. Save your money and buy a different model.

Summary: Don't waste your money 2008-08-07
Comment: This serger is poorly made. It is a waste of money. It will make you hate serging. You will have half finished projects and mangled fabric laying all around while you pull your hair out and read and re-read the manual. IT ISN"T YOU AND IT ISN"T SERGING. IT IS THIS MACHINE. DON"T BUY IT. You will want to throw it away in less than a year. Save your money and get a different brand.

Summary: New to Sergers 2007-11-09
Comment: Purchased this item from a retail JoAnns' It was 249.99 on sale, came threaded.
I had to play around with the machine more than I used it, read the reviews here and on JoAnns' site and decided there was a better Serger out there.
Bought a Brother from Amazon, JoAnn only sold Singer.
Now, in defense of the Singer serger machine, it has a much heavier material cutter, less oiling and a heavier steel shaft, collar combination, than the Brother.
Also, when the Singer was serging it did an extremely good job of overlocking, better than the Brother, in my opinion.
After I became used to the Singer form of threading it wasn't as bad as most of the reviews made it sound.

Summary: You're better off with the older model! 2006-03-23
Comment: I recently upgraded my serger, to this model. I only use this machine for basic serging, I also own a 14T967DC for more complex work.
This machine is a pain to thread. The older model had a little arm that would help loop the thread when threading the lower looper. This one does not, and Singer has insured that the little loop you need to thread, is very difficult to reach.
I only upgraded because I saw this one at my dealer, and liked the idea of a free arm. I didn't think to look inside, and see if Singer had decided to make threading difficult.
Also not included with this machine, is a scrap catcher. And the spool holders are extremly flimsy. It's also very loud, and that fancy "euro" silver design thing on it gets extremly hot.
I gave the second star because it does serge a nice seam.
Buyer Beware!!
