Singer Invisible Zipper Foot #SP-163-P

Product Review

This foot makes inserting invisible zippers very easy. The grooves on the bottom of the foot hold the zipper coils in place to avoid any slipping while sewing. This provides an invisible closure on skirts, dresses and all garments and can be used on other projects as well.

From the product picture, I could not determine it was plastic and not metal. However, I am greatly pleased with the delivery and packaging of this frail item. I was able to use it quickly and efficiently and it proves to be sturdy. I have use it for 24 invisible zippers so far and I am satisfied.

I bought this zipper foot because it's said to fit many different Singer sewing machines, one of which would be mine. It didn't work for me as the metal part is just not thick enough to stay in place.

This looks just like the Singer SP-163-P invisible zipper foot, but there is no indication that it is actually from Singer . It came in a little plastic bag with no labeling of any sort. I ordered this particular foot because it was listed as being a Singer product (in product title and description*), so I wasn't expecting it to arrive anonymously.

However, since it looks the same as Singer photos I can find on the web, I would not be surprised if it was from the same factory.

Instructions were included for the Singer "Quantum invisible zipper foot", which unlike this model, has an off-center hole, so following them would have caused a broken needle. (The pdf was copied from the Singer site, but the GoldStar name added, and then were poorly printed in b&w.)

One thing that really bothers me in trying to get sewing machine accessories is that many parts are capriciously labeled as being compatible when they are not. For example, I need 15J bobbins,...Read more
