The SINGER 9858 is a six-stitch machine. If you are ready to learn to sew or are looking for a machine to do some basic mending and sewing, this could be the machine you need. The machine features a four-step buttonhole; three needle positions to help get your stitching in just the right spot; an easy bobbin winder; and horizontal threading for smoother stitching. It is also a flat bed machine which means it is easy to mount into most sewing cabinets. This machine comes with an instruction manual (in English, French, and Spanish) to show you how to get the most from your machine. It also includes the following accessories: a pack of needles, four bobbins, standard presser foot, special purpose foot, feed dog cover, and two spool caps.

The machine works as specified. Some of the instructions are a bit hard to follow but I am catching on. The most important feature is the flatbed design. It fits very well into my old sewing cabinet so I was able to avoid buying a new cabinet and saving myself some money. Overall, I am very pleased.

This machine doesn't work perform as expected for me. I think it's for "beginners' starting out without a lot of complicated tasks to sew or projects.
