Drop & SewTM Bobbin System quickly places the bobbin thread exactly where you need it. A built-in needle threader makes quick work of threading the eye of the needle. 150 stitch programs include 4 types of 1-step buttonholes, an alphabet with upper & lower case, numbers, a Hand-look Quilt stitch, lots of decorative stitches, and all the construction stitches you could need. Each stitch has its optimal settings pre-programmed but you can adjust the settings as you need whenever you want. You also have a temporary memory for up to 20 characters; can mirror image, edit and elongate stitches; a continuous design sew option; and electronic twin needle control. Summary: Great machine for the price. 2010-03-20
Comment: I searched long and hard for this machine and it was the best price here on Amazon. It was a used one but like new except for the box and we always throw that away. So great deals when out of original box. I was skeptic at first but I will go and try this again.

Summary: Low Quality--Low Reliability--Frequent Repairs 2010-02-28
Comment: Great when it works, but it's been to the repair shop (must ship it--cost & hassle) and now needs to go again and it's not even a year old. 1st time, it wouldn't sew a simple straight stitch unless you put it on zig-zag!! Now, it won't wind a bobbin--runs for 2 seconds and stops. Turn it off and back on, runs for 2 seconds and stops. Turn it off and back on, etc. Totally unreliable machine and a waste of money!

Summary: Finally, a machine I can sew with! 2010-01-14
Comment: I have been limping along with an old, cranky machine for years. Finally, my husband bought me this machine for Christmas and I have been sewing every since! It is light and easily set up on the dining room table. It's quiet and easy to change settings. I did have one thread jam. My heart fluttered as I thought, "here it goes, the good times are over!!" but that was hasty. It has been working fine ever since.I am so glad to have a machine I can create and sew with.

Comment: The only other machine I used before this one was my mom's old (1970s era) Singer Stylist. My goodness is this an upgrade! I was able to find it for an amazing deal somewhere other than Amazon, though I haven't seen that good of a price but on a used floor model since. You will not be disappointed with this machine. It powers through multiple layers, the see-through bobbin case is quite helpful for knowing when you're running low on the bobbin thread, and It is very intuitive and easy to use. I haven't had any troubles with it(I've had it for a year and a half.)

Comment: I probably shouldn't review this machine after only the first couple days, but what a nice machine. I don't think it's all that heavy. The threading has simplified since the last time I had a sewing machine, and I got the little needle threader to work. I have a problem that I'm left handed. It's difficult for me to use the needle threader and even more difficult to change the needle.
The video helped a lot. Too bad they didn't do a short segment on maintenance. There's not that much to maintain. My first project involved sewing two quilt thicknesses together. The outer fabric was a smooth cotton, so the upper piece pushed a little out of alignment from the lower piece. Then when I did the french seam second pass, things realigned themselves.
I ordered the combo with the carrying case. Walmart has the same case for 2/3 the cost.
