Summary: An AWFUL little machine!!!! 2008-06-12
Comment: well, i just spent more time with a seam ripper removing bad stitches than I would have hand sewing ( and we're talking about a tablecloth ten feet long) The thread gets caught around the spool every few minutes, due to the fact that the designers chose to put a spring BELOW rather than ABOVE the spool- thus holding it up, and making it prone to catching. Even when it is working, the tension isn't correct, so the stitches are uneven and often contain loops on either side- such that the stitch tends to get caught on things, which is particularly an issue because this machine uses a very long stitch- the length traditionally used to make gathers. So when the stitch gets caught on something, it pulls the thread the whole way back, giveing the entire seem a ruffled appearance.
IN SHORT:
Do not buy this machine. When I bought it, I was thinking that it wouldn't be great, but it would be worth 21 bucks. This is not the case. In fact, its probably not worth free. I would have given it zero stars, but that seems not to be an option.

Summary: Great Sewing Machine for the Price!! 2008-05-14
Comment: I am so amazed at how well this little sewing machine works for the amount I paid. I'm on a budget so this was definitely a bargain for the quality it brings! I've owned a $300+ Singer sewing machine before, but I have to say this one works really well and right out of the box I was able to make pillows after not using a sewing machine for over 10 years. I highly recommend this to anyone. It even comes with a light! I was shocked that Target wasn't selling it for a higher price.

Summary: Gave it as a gift to my daughter 2008-04-16
Comment: I bought this as a gift for my 13 year old daughter, and, in fact, asked her for her rating as I trust her judgement given that we both sew. I use a larger heavier machine and am not inclined to use it - but for her, this is perfect. It's small enough for her to store in her room and carry it down to the craft room for when she's ready to use it - or use it in the dining room if the craft room is being used.
She sews well on it, making all sorts of items from bags to quilts. She said that her only complaint is that she will occasionally get uneven stitches, but other than that she loves it.
It has an odd mechanism of action, which I'm not used to seeing - and she said that it was a little odd getting used to. She said the thread sometimes unwinds, but she doesn't really have a problem with it tangling.

Summary: Review based on what I've read and what my experience is 2008-01-07
Comment: Shark Mini Sewing Machine Ok,so I have researched this item online and the reviews. I have only sewn one tote bag when I was in middle school so I am really new to the sewing world. The machine I got was NOT a Dressmaker though I looked for it. Mine is the Shark Mini Euro Pro from Target. This is a good machine for basic hemming or basic sewing when it's too time consuming or too much to hand sew. No it does not auto back stitch nor does it have any other stitching other than chain stitching. Do not expect this to do as a large machine does because it won't. Now it does come with a foot pedal and adapter. You can use batteries and it comes preloaded thread, if you want your own thread then just get a metal bobbin and load your thread instead of unraveling the existing bobbins. Out of the box you can start to sew. Beware the thread broke on me a few times but I had to adjust the tension knob a few times to prevent it from breaking repeatedly. I also found the light does dim a little when you sew but again it is a mini machine not a full size one. I had fun with this and made a purse organizer. It is a crude item but it works. Overall, I like this machine. I think it is good for what I intended it for. Euro-Pro 1100 Dressmaker II Sewing Center

Summary: Not even as good as a toy 2007-07-31
Comment: I have a nice Euro-Pro sewing machine that I love, so I thought this one would be perfect as a stand-in while mine is being tuned up. I only wanted it for simple stitching as I save the big stuff for my other machine. I was very disappointed. This machine is very cheaply made, it feels and sews like a toy. Though I'm not a professional seamstress, I do know how to sew but I couldn't get this machine to sew more than a few stitches without jamming up. Luckily, I bought my daughter a Mini-Rex, which was cheaper and works loads better. This one went right back to the store, it's a definite "NO".
