Summary: lightweight sewing machine 2009-04-12
Comment: This sewing machine is fine for my purpose in buying it - a lightweight machine to use for small sewing tasks when visiting my father. I need to repair seams, re-hem, other little jobs that I have been doing by hand on my visits. I don't think I'd try to make a whole new garment - the machine is very light (which was the point for me in buying it) and a little rickety, but for an experienced seamstress it's usable and useful for repair jobs.

Comment: This is not a very good machine. It is a plastic waste. The only thing this can sew is cotton material. I would not recommend it to any one.

Comment: My nine year old daughter wanted a sewing machine and like many other things she wants I didn't want a big investment only to learn she's bored five minutes in...this machine works perfectly. I haven't sewed in years and I was so pleased the instructions for threading the spool and bobbin were very clear and concise. She has been able to use it with ease and we're having fun making clothes for her stuffed animals.
I highly recommend this item, we've had no problems with it whatsoever and is easy to use for young and old and really sew like a sewing machine.

Comment: I'm 21, and this is my first sewing machine (I'm used to hand-stitching)
After just a little while, I was making and finishing a sweatsuit using this machine - it works great, and like others have said, if you're having trouble with it, you probably just need to check to make sure it's set up correctly. Everytime there was a problem, it was due to my error, not machine malfuncion.
Also, the complaints about the needle being hard to thread are not really fair - any needle is somewhat difficult to thread! However you can adjust the height of the needle or use the threading device that is included.
Overall, this is a wonderful product. I may invest in one of the more expensive brands of sewing machine later on, but this one will serve me well for a long time to come.
