Sailrite Portable Upholstery Machines: The Deluxe LS-1 straight stitch UltrafeedTM has all the features of the classic machine with some important upgrades. The standard carrying case has been replaced with a Deluxe case that features inside cushioning and reinforced corners for more secure transportation and storage. The Monster II balance wheel and a solid state (vs. carbon pile) foot control have been added for more slow speed power and control. (Note: the balance wheel also has a hand crank handle to provide for electric free operation.) The Monster II balance wheel is also equipped with our new Posi-Pin clutch system. The Posi-Pin is Sailrites solution to a slipping clutch. Also included are a handy light that has been added right above the needle. 40 additional needles (10 each of sizes 14, 16, 18 and 20), a heavy duty seam ripper, and a maintenance brush are also included in the Deluxe package. Its variable stitch length mechanism allows for very long straight stitches up to 6mm. This is great for sewing Sunbrella which tends to needle pucker (the longer the stitch the less the pucker). And, its lever activated reverse makes back stitching easy. A welting tunnel in the presser foot allows for accurate piping installation. The Ultrafeed makes feeding heavy, bulky and even sticky fabrics like window material a breeze. On most sewing machines the presser foot simply holds the fabric down and all movement is accomplished with a single, bottom feed dog. The UltrafeedTM uses a mechanical "Walking" presser foot that moves forward and back in time with the feed dog to ensure the layers of fabric are moving together and easily through the machine. Since it feeds so well, the stitch length stays very consistent. And, because the walking foot is designed with a high lift, it better accommodates thick fabric assemblies.
