Found this somewhere else and it helped me. I hope it helps you.

Okay, I am a true beginner and I just needed to fix something small, so I bought one of these from CVS for this one project. It took me a VERY long time to get working once I removed the thread that came in it and tried to put my own in. No matter how many videos I watched online, I couldn't figure it out because the bobbin container is simply different than most.
The top thread is easy to put in, just follow the diagram. Once you get it through the needle, pull the string down through the center of the foot, and around to the right until the thread is pointing away from you.

It really does sew just like a larger machine. It is just not as cumbersome to take out of storage. I am very impressed. Love it and use it often.

Does not work on many cloth types,

This machine is not very well built, and does not work on many different types of cloth. It barely works on the cloth sample that comes with the machine. The reason it does not work is that apparently the hook in the bottom does not catch the thread from the needle. So you poke a lot of holes but do not make any stitches, or only a few here and there.
It also says it has 2 speeds, but that only means it sews faster or slower; it doesn't have any way to vary the size of the stitches, nor to go backwards to finish off your sewing.
