Product Review

This sleek but weighty iron is ideal for ironing clothing or items made out of heavy or wrinkle-prone fabrics, such as denim and linen. The 1,400-watt iron produces constant steam when in use, or bursts of steam at the push of a button for stubborn wrinkles. Another button produces sprays of cool water, helpful in dampening shirts before ironing. Dry ironing and variable settings for synthetic fabrics are other options. The self-cleaning setting rids the iron of scale and impurities. An included plastic flask measures the exact amount of tap water needed to fill the reservoir, the opening of which is covered by a hinged flap to keep out dust. Emptying the iron after use is recommended. Other features include a 10-foot retractable cord that stores in the base (which contributes to the iron's long length), a highly polished stainless-steel soleplate, and automatic safety shutoff after eight minutes of standing still. The iron measures 13-1/4 inches long, and is covered by a one-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

I don't even know how long I have had my Euro Pro IR 412, maybe 12 years. I have dropped it several times and it just kept going. Retraction works well. After many years, it only had a button fall off, but I was able to glue it in and continue going. Tonight I think it finally bit the dust. Going to let it rest tonight and if I find tomorrow that it did indeed iron its last shirt, then I'm going online to buy it again. The only problem I had is it can tend to spit water at lower temperatures, but after seeing all my options, I'm sticking with what I know. And I am hoping that they may have fixed the spitting problem by now. I would recommend it.
