The Cone Thread Adaptors are a necessity on the serger to stabilize the large cones on the spindle. Without the adaptors, the thread does not 'flow' evenly into the machine which can cause irregular stitches, tangled thread, or even breakage of thread. My purchase was to ensure I had extra adaptors on hand in case one was lost.
