4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the money, April 12, 2007

This is a pretty nice machine, especially for $150 bucks. It's pretty fast but not too fast and you can adjust your speed easy. It comes with a very useful guide on how to do everything from threading it to making a bobbin to making a buttonhole. My major problem with it is that it can be kind of a drama queen about the bobbin and if you don't make it exactly right then the machine's tension goes all out of wack and you have to make the bobbin again. Most machines are like that though, so whatever. It has some nice stitch functions and can do two needle. For what you're paying you're getting a good deal. It's lasted me for around eight months without any problems and I don't doubt it will last for several more years at least if not more.

I had a very experienced friend come over to help me sew something on it and she was quickly frustrated with the tension. Over time I started to realize that it was definitely the machine and not me. The tension is the worst problem, which sounds easy to fix but it's not on this machine. No matter WHAT number you set it to up top (there's no bottom setting- you can only adjust the top) it will still be really loose. 4 is generally a good setting, but after a couple of lines of stitching, it gets really loose. So then you crank it up, and up, and find yourself at at least 7. When it stops being decent all together you finally turn it back to 4 and it's working again. REALLY?! One trick is to sew a line or two, then turn the machine off all together, then back on, and you might be able to finish the lines you're...Read more
